Occupational therapy has been described as assisting you develop skills for the job of living. While it sounds like occupational therapy is directly related to physical labor or work, it really comes with much broader definitions. In this case, occupations include work, leisure, self-care, hobbies and educational activities. The goal of occupational therapy is to make sure you’re able to participate in all of these events to the highest level possible.
Occupational therapy is different than physical therapy in that OT primarily focuses on upper-extremity injury or impairment. Our occupational therapist and occupational therapy assistants are there to help you heal, but also, educate you on improved ways to go about doing daily living activities. Our entire therapy staff is there to ensure you regain function, restore mobility, reduce pain, and understand how to promote healing throughout daily living. Our OT team recognizes knowledge is only as good as the application.
We can confidently say that the best quality within our OT department is the personality of each member of the staff. Our team members truly find joy in getting patients back to feeling great. It is our saying that we are happy to see you, but we hope to never have you back.
“We will get you feeling better, and show you how to stay that way." -Laura Steele, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
