We understand that visiting a provider for the first time or switching to a new one may seem overwhelming. While that may be so, Integrated Health patients soon find that in addition to our excellent line of services, we treat each and every person like family and do everything in our abilities to make their visits comfortable, efficient and effective.
Over time, we have collected first-hand accounts from our patients that have taken time to write about their experiences in the hopes that their words will inspire and help future patients of Integrated Health of Southern Illinois. Feel free to look around, and remember, if you have a testimonial of your own, we would like to hear from you. Simply send your thoughts to us by clicking here.
Over a year and a half ago, I began suffering from severe pain in the calf area of my right leg. It would hurt so bad I would have to sit down while trying to prepare a meal. It began to travel to my hip, right arm, and shoulder.
I had an ultrasound done on my leg to determine if it was a blood clot. It was not, and I was told it was tendonitis in my leg, arm, and shoulder, along with some arthritis in my shoulder. I was directed to take basic ibuprofen for the inflammation. My leg hurt so much; I would be awake most of the night trying to find a comfortable sleeping position. I could not sleep on my right side at all because of the shoulder pain.
In July, 2007, I decided since my Medical Doctor wasn’t doing me any good, I would try the help of a Chiropractor. He started with three adjustments a week, then two a week, and down to once a week. By the end of July, I had very little pain, and some days I didn’t have any. I was able to sleep comfortably and even sleep on my right side again.
I am very glad I chose to get Chiropractic care for my problem and would recommend this type of treatment to anyone suffering from constant pain.

Do I believe in chiropractic? Gee… Why wouldn’t I? I mean, it just makes sense. If you think about it, God made the body to heal itself, and we know that the brain and spinal column are the “Lifeline” that supplies all the bodies movements. Knowing this, doesn’t it make sense that if Chiropractic care can keep your spine in good health and alignment, then disease and pain won’t have a place to start?
Several years ago, my allergy doctor told me I was his 4th worst patient. Well thank God I’m not anymore. If I feel myself getting a lot of aches and pains, sinusitis, or a sinus infection (which I’m prone to), I just make an appointment with one of the Doctors here to get an adjustment. I also try to start my regime of drinking more water, reminding myself to keep taking my Omega 3 Essentials (Fish Oil), do some relaxing stretches, pray more, and get more sleep. Yeah, I guess you could say I’m one of the “Regulars” who comes in for a tune-up once a month. It seems to be keeping me out of the medical Doctor’s office less often too.
So Do I believe in Chiropractic? You Betcha!

I am a mother of 3 young children. Before we began chiropractic treatments I missed work all the time due to my children’s ear infections, allergies, and various other illnesses. Chiropractic therapy resolved their ear infections within a few weeks. Their allergies are virtually non-existent and I haven’t had to miss work in a long time.

I went to my family Doctor for leg pain. I was diagnosed with arthritis. I continued to come in, when shortly after my first visit; my Doctor referred me to Dr. Hester. I was anxious to see what chiropractic could do for my problem. I visited Dr. Hester regularly because the adjustments and massages alleviated the pain. I was shortly off the crutches. I am very active. Due to the tremendous amount of relief I received from Chiropractic, I was able to roof my house in 2006. I also enjoy quilting, sewing and working in my yard. Every once in a while my leg will flare up, but a simple adjustment is all it takes to get me back on track. Thanks so much!

I have had low back pain and neck pain. On October 14, 2006 I competed in the Mixed Martial Arts Illinois State Amateur Championship when I twisted my back all up. The good news was that I won the championship; the bad news was that my back was all messed up. My injury was due to lack of flexibility. I immediately got treatment from Dr. Hester. I am now feeling completely better. I train on a regular basis. Training consists of running, weight lifting, and ground fighting techniques. I also work at Rent One, so I lift heavy objects a lot throughout the day. I am also getting my Masters Degree in Business Administration. Thank you, *Integrated Health of Southern Illinois*.

I have had problems with my allergies as long as I can remember. Allergies alone wouldn’t be that bad, but combined with cough, raw throat, stuffy nose, runny nose, and sneezing; it makes for a horrible day. I have always taken Zyrtec, and Singulair daily, but when those won’t help, what do you do? I sought the help of Chiropractic. After a short time, and a few adjustments later, my allergies had improved drastically! All of my symptoms had diminished, and I do not have to take medication any more. Thank you.

When I first came in I had just been in a severe car wreck. I had severe whiplash and a pinched nerve in my right hand and arm. I had right shoulder pain, limited range of motion, and could not lift anything past a certain point. I couldn’t even lift my child into the car. Chiropractic seemed to be the most logical option for me and my situation. Once I had seen Dr. Hester for a few visits, he referred to Davy and Shawn for some occupational therapy. The combination of the two types of Care allowed me to make a speedy recovery. In no time I was able to lift my child, my pain from whiplash had quickly resolved. My strength was regained and my range of motion had progressed dramatically. I am very pleased with the amount of care and concern I received from all of the staff at *Integrated Health of Southern Illinois*. I would recommend anyone who has had an accident or just needs basic care to visit Dr. Hester and his staff.

I was in a severe auto accident, in which my left shoulder and neck were badly injured. My family doctor referred me to Dr. Hester, and I’m glad she did. Treatments I received consisted of adjustments from Dr. Hester and Occupational Therapy from Shawn. The combination of the two treatments is what I believe made all the difference. The care I received was very thorough, and professionally done. I feel stronger now than what I did before the accident. I can’t stress enough the wonderful care I received; Not only from Dr. Hester and Shawn, but the entire staff. They are all great, caring people. I have been blessed to know them.

TOP-NOTCH, WONDERFUL, AND PROFESSIONAL are just three words I would use to describe the staff and services here at *Integrated Health of Southern Illinois.* I had an injured right shoulder due to a bicycle accident and was always experiencing soreness, and stiffness. I went through several sessions of Ultrasound, E-Stim, Arm Ergometer, Ice Therapy, and Stretching and Strengthening exercises. My strength in my shoulder increased, my range of motion greatly improved, and the skills needed to go through everyday life that I lost where regained through this excellent program.

I have had a broken right elbow and a displaced bone. I had surgery to reset that bone, unfortunately it took the help of four screws. I had very, very limited mobility, and complete loss of strength. I received several different types of therapy and all of them helped tremendously. My results from treatment were excellent! I now have full range of motion and extension of my arm. I am now able to get back to the things I enjoy in life. Thanks so much!!

For quite a while I have had pain in my right shoulder. I could not raise it up without feeling severe pain. Ultrasound, Electrical Stimulation, and specialized exercises are just a few types of treatment I have had. Almost immediately I could tell a difference in the amount of progress I was making. I can now lift things that before I would have dropped, I have now returned to my prior level of function and am able to use my arm to all of its capacity. Shawn is an excellent therapist and would recommend him to anyone.

My experience with the occupational therapy department was wonderful. I had neck pain and very limited range of motion in all directions. I was unable to hold my head up for long periods of time, and unable to sleep without pain and stiffness when I woke up in the morning. I received several different types of treatment such as: extended therapy from E-Stim , Hot packs, Ultrasound, and a weight lifting/exercise program to strengthen my neck and shoulder muscles. I had unbelievable results!! No pain, No Stiffness, Full range of motion, and FINALLY a good night's sleep!

I am a mechanic in a coal mine. My job and my performance relies on the use and function of my hands. I had tingling, pain and numbness in my hand/thumb. It was hard for me to complete my daily shift, and chores due to the intense amount of pain. After several different types of therapy and a very interactive staff, I am now pain free and there is absolutely no numbness in my hand. Thank You!

Before my experience with occupational therapy here at *Integrated Health of Southern Illinois, I could not turn my head to the right at all. This made it extremely difficult to safely drive my car. After just a few sessions of Therapy, I could tell I was already making improvement. I can now turn my head without ANY limitation. As a secretary I am seated for long periods of time, I am now able to sit without pain and my posture has really, really improved. Overall, I feel much better and stronger.
- Michelle L.

After a car accident, I was left in great pain in my neck. Before I started Occupational Therapy I was unable to move my head or bend in my low back without significant pain. Daily tasks were limited and my pain increased with long periods of sitting. This made it hard to complete my job as a truck driver. After 8 weeks of therapy I am now pain free and it is such a blessing. The staff is always deeply concerned with how you are doing. Excellent job!! WOW!!
- Randall C.

I am a nurse in Evansville, Indiana so I had a very long commute to work, and posture was not quite up to par. Due to my posture which was just progressive in nature, sitting for long periods of time was very difficult for me and caused pain in my neck, shoulders, and upper back. I received four weeks of Occupational Therapy, and two weeks of muscle strengthening in my neck and upper back. My pain is completely gone, my posture has improved tremendously, and I am much more productive. Thank You to all the staff at *Integrated Health of Southern Illinois*.

I love to hunt, lift weights, and play with my son. About one year ago, I developed strong shoulder pain. When I came to therapy 6 weeks ago I was unable to pull back my bow. I was unable to completely raise my arm. I couldn’t even touch the top of my head. As a father of a young son I was limited in my abilities to play with him and going to the gym was out of the question. After just 6 weeks of Occupational Therapy with Shawn and the rest of the staff, I am now PAIN FREE! I am shooting my bow, lifting weights, & playing with my son! Thank You!!
